I am Cynthia, a multilingual travel and culture enthusiast from the Hudson Valley, N.Y. I graduated from the illustrious Howard University.

My global curiosity has taken me to countries including Brazil and Dominican Republic, where I completed cultural immersion and study abroad trips, respectively. Following eye-opening experiences abroad and at home, I determined that my overarching personal mission is to empower and unify monoracial Black and Afro-descendant humans, specifically monoracial Black women, girls and femmes.

This blog began in 2017 as both a personal outlet and a portfolio; I was frustrated by the scant and limiting media portrayals I saw concerning Black women and Black love so I decided to highlight works that I enjoyed in Black Narratives Matter.

I then branched out to focus on spotlighting and interrogating social constructs in 2020. That year was incredibly challenging for Black and African people around the world. I thankfully had access to resources that allowed me to stay physically safe and healthy, but the mental and emotional stress were unrelenting. It forced me to become even more introspective and curious about societal ills and intergenerational traumas that have been normalized and repackaged over the course of centuries. The work is tied into all of my writings but the section in which I focus on such discourse is Social Commentary.

Last but not least, I write about my travels in Journey Deeper.

I spend an immense amount of time, energy and mental and emotional labor on my work. Please feel free to contribute support if it impacts and/or resonates with you.
